Angels Among Us

During this time of uncertainty, it’s good to know we’re not alone. You might be feeling alone, isolated from friends and family, but you’re not alone.  I believe that there are angels watching over you and me. Let me give you some examples and hopefully, you’ll believe it too, if you don’t already.

Scriptures suggest that there are several different kinds of angels.

-Spirits of those who haven’t yet come to the earth

-Spirits of those who have lived righteously on earth and have died, and are waiting their resurrection (like the visit of the angel Gabriel to Zacharias and Mary)

                – Translated beings functioning as angels (like the appearance of Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration)

-Holy men and women living on earth acting for ministers of God.

Soon after we were asked to stay at home, I received texts from several people in our congregation asking about how I was doing. Neighbors have extended books, toys, and puzzles for entertainment and one day I even received a loaf of homemade bread on our front porch from a member in our church.

I’ve seen many people dust off their sewing machines and pull out their fabric to sew masks for health care workers, friends, and family. It’s good to see the angels among us, don’t you think?

So what about the angels that we don’t see? They’re around us too. Just as we care about what happens to our family members, we have a loving God that cares about us. He certainly knows how troubled and lonely we may feel at times, so he sends angels to us to reassure us that heaven is close and that His love and help is always near. Sometimes the angel’s assignments are very grand and have significance to the whole world. Sometimes the messages are more private. Their role is to protect, warn, and strengthen us and their presence may or may not be seen or known.

I’d like to share my own example of a more private message given to me. I love family history and learning about those ancestors that came before me. One day I found a picture of a Great-Grandmother that I had never met. Since I knew her story, it was a great discovery! I remember thinking “So that’s what you look like.” It was a touching moment for me.

For some reason, Tom and I had been talking about ministering angels earlier that same day. Soon after I discovered her picture, the room I was in became very warm. I shared the experience with Tom and he asked through muscle testing, if I had ministering or attending angels around me and I did! Upon asking more questions and testing, he discovered that indeed that it was my Great-Grandma and she was very close. I felt her nearness. How comforting it is to know that angels are still sent to attend us!

Take care of yourself and be an angel to others around you, won’t you?
